Check your fuel supply before you start. Whether you have a gas or charcoal grill, you don't want to run out in the middle of cooking your Memorial Day food!

Avoid the traffic. If you live in a congested area get on the road very early or consider leaving later in the day. )Be careful on the road most drivers will be focus on getting somewhere fast. Take you time!)

Memorial Day always reminds me of the beach. If you can't go to the Beach have a beach party in your backyard!

Memorial Day is usually my first big sunburn of the season. Put on at least an SPF 30. Make sure your kids do, too. Keep those new babies out of the sun!!

You have to have the right kind of music for whatever you do! Pull out the Jimmy Buffet, Beach Boys, Bob Marley...
Get in the mood for a laid back weekend!

Bring your bug spray! Don't be some insect's main course. Check out some of the new repellents on the market. There are even some that clip to your belt!

Memorial Day is a good time to bring out your flag. Make sure your kids know what the day is about, too.

Send a letter or care package to someone you know in the service who is overseas. Holidays can be extra hard for them.

Kick off the Summer with a menu that includes lots of Salads, fruits and fresh vegetables. Use meat in moderation and you will limit time time spent in front of the Hot Grill.

Take your kids camping - even if it is just for one night. They will have a blast sitting around the fire and sleeping in a tent. And, you don't have to spend a fortune.

It's Air Show season. See if the local military base or Airstrip has a show. It doesn't have to be the Blue Angels. There are lots of great stunt pilots out there and just seeing some of the old planes flying around is a blast.

If you don't have plans - carve out at least one afternoon do to something special. Have lunch at an outdoor cafe or spend a few hours in the park with the family. Don't miss out on the opportunity to slow down and enjoy life.

If you can drop everything - do an overnight somewhere this weekend! Beat the traffic and the peak Holiday Hotel rates!! Go to Priceline or Travelosity and find a good deal!!

Check your local newspaper for Memorial Day events and parades in your area. There might be something your whole family can enjoy.

Make sure that you have plenty of ice on hand. During those warm Memorial Day parties, you don't want to run out of ice as people will be drinking lots to keep cool!

Make a checklist for all the food you'll need to get for your Memorial Day picnic. Make sure nothing is left behind.

Make sure that you have enough room to accommodate all your Memorial Day guests whether it be inside, by the pool, on a deck, etc.

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance of those military personnel who died while serving their country so you could take a trip to a National Cemetery and pay tribute to those men and women who sacrificed their lives.
