Take some time now and then to sooth your dog and yourself with some calm music. It is a great way to bond.

Teach your dog not to charge out the front door ahead of you. Make him sit and stay while you get out the door then allow him to follow.

Sometimes having a ticking clock in the crate will help a new puppy go to sleep.

Dogs will instinctively offer you their paw. With a little practice you can turn that into a "high five." Start low and work you way up higher as the dog begins to catch on.

You can teach your dog to catch a soft rubber ball in its mouth and bring it back to you. Start at fairly close range with soft under hand pitches. Over time your dog will be able to go out for a fairly long pass. Make sure he/she returns the ball quickly - but allow a short "victory lap" if it makes you both happy.

Dogs like a routine and will remind you when its time for certain things like the evening walk. Being consistent will help keep your dog calm and easy to manage.

Watch for tips that your dog may not be feeling well. Eating grass can be a sign of stomach upset.

Give your dog a rawhide chew or nylon bone to help get rid of plaque and tartar. It will also prevent him from chewing on other household items.
