iPhone Tips

If you are looking at a page online, and you want to get back to the top of the page all you have to do is tap the bar at the top of the screen where the time and battery power indicator are.

If you are typing a note and you need to use special characters – such as accent marks over certain letters – all you need to do is to hold down the letter that the accent mark is going to go over and a pop up of alternate versions of the letter will show up.

To restart your iPhone just press and hold both the Home and Sleep buttons. Keep holding those buttons as the screen goes dark and then comes on again.

With the iPhone you are able to take a screen shot of what you are looking at by holding the Home button and clocking the sleep button. The screen shot is stored along with other photographs and images.

For parents with the iPhone, there are parental controls that you can turn on to keep your child from things that they should not have access to. To reach these options go to settings, then general and then restrictions.

Double tapping is only necessary for two things: for photos to zoom in or zoom back out of the image and for videos, to eliminate or restore the letterbox bar.

When in Safari (the default browser on the iPhone), you can save any image to the iPhone by pressing the image with your finger and holding it. A screen will pop up asking you to "Save Image". Simply click on this button and it will save the image to your photos section.

Did you know that you can assign what double-clicking your Home button does? Navigate to Settings/General/Home Button. You can then select whether you want it to open to Home, open to your Phone Favorites or open to your iPod.

You know how there are 2 pages of icons (even though many of us never use the second page)? Well instead of scrolling to the second page by sliding your finger, you can also just tap your finger on the bottom right or left corners of the black area to scroll back and forth.

To help your iPhone last longer and stay looking great, you should invest in a screen protector. As the only way to use and navigate the iPhone is by touching the screen, a screen protector (also called a protection shield) helps guard against scratches to your screen. They are easy to put on your phone and don't detract from the overall look or experience of a touch screen phone.
