Spring Break Tips

Before you leave for your trip, make sure you have a map handy in case you get lost on the way to your destination. Some snacks for the road are always handy too!

Everyone wants to take advantage of Spring break. Plan way ahead and make sure you can take the week off!

Flights and Hotels fill up fast so make sure you decide on a destination and dates early.

If you want to avoid the hassle of traveling - try short trips from home that week. Plans 2 or 3 overnight stays within a few hours of home base.

If you know the college crowd is headed to the beach - try a nice quiet lake.

Remember the purpose of Spring Break is to relax. Don't get too caught up in planning an elaborate trip. Find something that will be low stress.

For a really memorable trip - visit a National park in a state you have never been to.

Take your kids to see the Grand Canyon. It is a site you will all remember for years to come.

Rent a house on a quiet strip of beach and split the cost with another Family. The kids will find plenty to do and the adults can have some quality time, too.

If you are going out of town ask a neighbor to watch your house. Put a few light on timers and if you have an alarm make sure you set it.

Talk to your kids before they go off on their first Spring Break with their friends. Make sure they are aware of some of the potential dangers out there.

If you are not a Beach person try a Historic tour. There are great sites all over the country to check out.

A low cost family camping trip can be easy to organize and get every one back in touch with nature for a few days.

If you are like me there is always the lure of the "Staycation."
Stay home while everyone else is away and enjoy some quite time. Check out the local Museums you have never been to, Spend a day at the park with your kids and the dog....

Washington D.C. will be crowded, but once you get there the Museums are Free!!

Sign up for a one week Adventure Camp. Learn how to rock climb, kayak, etc.

Organize a Family Reunion. Pick a central spot and have everyone meet up for a few days!

Pick an activity you have never tried before and give it a shot. You can do this from Home or a Resort. Skydiving is the extreme, but maybe you have never ridden a horse?

Try a Volunteer week. There are lots of Charities and Local organizations that could use your help.

Visit the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. Try real New York Pizza! You will be surprised how friendly New Yorkers actually are.
