Put your kids first! You will never get these years back. No matter how exciting your business idea is, there is nothing more important than being there for your children. They need you and they're counting on you to be a good mom. Do not ignore them when they walk in and you're working. Do not be short with them because you are trying to concentrate. It's not their fault. They're just being kids. That's what kids do. When the stress rises, walk away from the work and tend to your children. You can go back to the work at any time.

Make sure the company you want to work for isn't a scam. If they have a proven track record of success then they are a good choice.

If you are starting your own business, make sure you have someone you know helping you along the way that knows what you need to do! Having a mentor is always great when you have important decisions to make so you can get your business on the right foot.

Even though you are working at home you should still set up office hours. In doing this, your family knows the times you are working. Having office hours will also make sure you have time for your family.

Realize that not everything is cheap or free. Starting a business is a rough track and will cost money, especially at the beginning days. But if you keep with it, it can pay out in the end.

Plan ahead and have some fun activities for the kids to do while you're working.

There are several great business ideas for work at home moms. A couple are writing articles or blogging for particular companies. Yup... some will actually pay you to do this!

I agree with drum ninja! If you are new to working at home and you are searching the net for possibilities, make sure you do your research! A broad search for "at home" jobs will bring up all possibilities, especially scams. When you find a company that seems like the right fit, do a google search specifically on that company. Make sure you even read the blogs about that company as other people may have already used them and will have words of wisdom for future users.

Everyone has been told if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is! A while back, I read an article about "Work from Home" jobs and it said that you should never have to pay up front to work from home. Some "at home" jobs sound great and all you have to do is pay a "Membership Fee" or "Start Up Costs". However, the article brought out that this should never be the case. NEVER give out your personal information over the internet. Not only can people steal your identity, but they can also leak a virus onto your computer by joining their sites/scams.

Dear at home Mama's: You have a daunting task of trying to balance a family and a career. My mother did the same thing when I was younger. I think she said it best when she said, "I want a job that works around my life, not a life that works around my job." Working at home is a great way to prioritize your family agenda. Remembering your family's well-being is the most important thing and will allow you to keep your focus when the kids or your employment causes your stress levels to rise. Remembering to always maintain a good balance between the two will help you keep up the good work while maintaining minimal stress levels.
