Motivation Tips

There are movies that can be extremely motivating. The hero might save the day through sheer hard work, determination and vowing to never give up until success is achieved. One usually walks out of a movie like this ready to conquer the world. Therefore, when you need a dose of motivation, choose a movie that will inspire.

For motivation, read motivational books. There are hundreds on the market. Or go to the library and see what's there. You'll find motivational books under self-help, business and many other subjects.

Attend motivational seminars. The Tony Robbins seminars comes to mind as someone everyone's heard of. He might be expensive but I would bet there are others like him that may not be so expensive. Many employers offer periodic motivational seminars. Take advantage of these. Also, keep an eye on your local newspaper. Sometimes they have free seminars in certain subjects that can be motivating.

Keeping a list of goals can be motivating. Keep this in front of you throughout the day. When you can see them like that in plain view, it helps keep you focused and on track.

Reward yourself when you meet specific goals. Just as you might reward your pet when he or she does something good, use this same method in motivating yourself. Be careful not to cheat though. You're on the honor system!

Surround yourself with winners. Do you have negative people around you? Avoid them like the plague. Hang out with positive, motivated people that are productive. It will rub off on you.

My heart and my head are constantly wanting to execise....but my physical body, not so much! I find that by putting signs on the bathroom mirror, refrigerator, and computer that say "I AM NOT A QUITTER" are just enough to prompt me to get moving!

Procrastination is a death sentence to motivation. Don’t let those little nagging thoughts of “I’ll have more time to do this tomorrow” get into your head. Tell yourself to make the time to do what you need to, or want to, do today. Tell the procrastinating side of yourself to go away!

It’s all about baby steps. For every big thing you dream of doing there is a little step that can put you on the path of achieving that bigger dream. For example if you have always dreamed of a huge vacation touring another country…a small step could just be balancing your checkbook to know what your finances are like. You will be able to figure out how much you can set aside on a monthly basis towards your trip.

Need help getting motivated to study for school? It will help you a great deal to know what kind of learner you are. You could be a kinesthetic (by touching and handling things), auditory (by listening), or visual (including reading) learner. Once you discover this, studying will be a great deal easier because you can get your teacher or professor to give you materials to help you.
