Parenting Tips
Listen to your children when they talk. You expect them to give you’re their undivided attention when you are talking to them, then you should do the same to them.

Consistency is a good thing for children of all ages. Having the same bedtime and studying time will make everyone happier in the long run.

Take the time to enjoy quality time with your children. Set up a game night each week or read them a bed time story. The years when they are young are precious and they fly by. Before you know it they are all grown up and living on their own and you will never have the opportunity to have quality time with them again.

When your child does something wrong, make sure that they understand that you are not happy with their decision not them. You don’t want to say something like “that was dumb” which will not help the situation, but you want to say something like “that was a bad decision and here is why”. This way the child knows that what they did is wrong, but they know the right choice to make the next time.

Make sure both you and your partner are in agreement as far as punishments go. This is something you need to be on the same page about so that the child does not take advantage of pitting one parent against the other.

Tell your child or children that you love them each and every day. This will help them to feel wanted and appreciated, as well as safe and secure in both themselves and in their families.

Lead by example. Your children are smarter than you think and they will learn more by what you do then what you say. The old saying, "Do as I say, not as I do" won't cut it. We must show our children how to be decent human beings. Talk to others with respect. Don't lie (even small lies) or cheat. Don't sneak them into the movies or lie about their age to get a discount. They are watching this and they will learn from you.
