LAUGH!! It is a great way to relieve stress! Watch a funny movie, read something funny (a book, a funny email a friend sent, a story). Hang out with friends that you know can make you laugh.

Find an exercise that interests you, like swimming, lifting weights, or running/walking.

Relax in a steam room or sauna. Start off at 10 minutes and slowly work up to 30 minutes. Be sure to take a bottle of water with you to keep hydrated.

Relax in a nice hot bath!! Light some aromatherapy candles, turn on some lite music, and grab a glass of your favorite drink (a glass of wine, beer, champagne, tea).

Allow yourself some alone time every day, even if it is just a couple of minutes. Use this time to tell yourself that everything is going to be ok, and that you are a good person, basically anything that will take your mind off of whatever is causing you stress.

Don't be a perfectionist - you will only get stressed if whatever you are working on does not turn out as perfect as you would like for it to. Keep telling yourself that nothing is perfect and that you are doing the best job you can possibly do.

If you are at work, and you feel bogged down by the weight of your responsibilities, or even life in general, go outside and walk around the block. Take 5-10 minutes or so to do this if you're able. This will help you to feel refreshed and renewed, and help you put things into some form of perspective.

Learn what triggers your stress by keeping a stress journal. Every time you are feeling stressed write down what caused the stress, how you are feeling – physically and emotionally, what your reaction was and what you did to make the stress go away. The longer you keep this journal the less stressed your life will be. You will begin to see patterns and you will learn how to avoid things that cause you stress.

Avoid things that cause you stress. If it is a person, then limit contact with them, if it is the nightly news, then turn off the TV. If you are not around things that cause you stress, then you will not feel stressed.

A good way to relieve stress is to play with your pets. They don’t feel stress like we do so they can help you to forget your stress. Petting your cat can be very therapeutic. Watching your dog fetch a ball with a big goofy grin on their face is sure to make you laugh and forget what you were stressed about.
