If you think you have sustained a head injury or concussion while playing or practicing, seek medical attention right away. Do not try to be tough and "walk it off". Most concussions can happen without ever losing consciousness. Symptoms of a concussion as reported by the CDC are as follows:

* Headache or “pressure” in head
* Nausea or vomiting
* Balance problems or dizziness
* Double or blurry vision
* Sensitivity to light
* Sensitivity to noise
* Feeling sluggish, hazy, foggy, or groggy
* Concentration or memory problems
* Confusion
* Does not “feel right” or is “feeling down”

If you experience any of these, get evaluated by a health care professional experienced in evaluating for concussion and do not return to practice until you are cleared by the medical staff. If you return too quickly, you can sustain a repeat concussion which according to the CDC can "result in edema (brain swelling), permanent brain damage, and even death."
